Sorry for lack of postings on the home cinema front but we in our little corner of France have been swept by La Grippe the dreaded flu bug that has depleted class sizes and sent hundreds of children snuffling up to bed freezing sweating and seeing the odd pink elephant.

Middle who is now a strapping 13 year old and taller than me complained of a headache on Sunday night and by Monday morning was a raging mass of germs after a few days of dosing him with Advil ( Adult Calpol) to no avail it was off to the Doctor who took one look at him and said Grippe. We came home with a bountiful bag of drugs and instructions to stay in bed in the warm and sweat it out. So there we were he and I snuggled up in bed, you know your teenager is really feeling yuck when he wants mummy to come in and cuddle him, and having got past the pink elephant stage but not quite to the getting up to greet the world stage we settled down to watch a DVD. His choice? You could have knocked me down with a feather , big macho boy asked if we could watch the new Disney Tinkerbell movie “Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue “ comfort viewing was obviously called for in his opinion and you can not get more comforting and gentle a story than this. There is nothing like a happy ever after Disney ending to gladden the heart. And what is more is for each copy of Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue sold Disney will give £1 to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's charity.

The story revolves around a little girl called Lizzie who not only believes in fairies and builds them houses but captures one , yes that would be tinkerbell, long before peter Pan and Wendy got in on the act! What follows is an adventure both for Lizzie and her Father ( who definately does not believe in fairies) and the fairies who come to rescue Tinkerbell in her hour of need. The animation is classic Disney and reminded me and my drugged up son of the animations in the original Dalmations movie very nostaligic.

Now here are some clips to add a little magic to your day and put you in Fairy mode...

You can learn more about the movie if you go to the Disney site on which there are also lots of fun games and things to win and where of course you can buy your own copy Blu ray or otherwise.
